A complexity theory of 3-manifolds gives an useful approach for their classification. We will present modern results on explicit values and on bounds of complexity for infinite series of hyperbolic 3-manifolds which belong to the following classes: closed manifolds which are cyclic branched coverings of 2-bridge knots; manifolds with geoedesic boundary, and manifolds with cusps.
